Our Story

Azeroth is better together.

Slow down. Explore together. Make some friends.

Why Cozy Fire Exists

Cozy Fire is the brainchild of a Classic player who loves this game, but has never quite felt at home in the larger Classic community. Everything is optimized, data-mined, and turned into a guide. Somewhere along the way a lot of the mystery and social aspect got pushed aside.

I wanted to build the kind of guild that I would join. An active, casual group where people do things together, and care more about the experience than squeezing every advantage out of the game. A place where people can enjoy Azeroth without feeling like they are falling behind.

Cozy Fire is not about pretending it is 2004 again, and it's not about being bad at the game on purpose. It is about slowing down enough to let the world feel big again. It's about treating the people around you as part of the experience instead of just another name in the group finder.

Community Standards

Cozy Fire is an 18+ guild, and we expect people to act like adults. That does not mean everything has to be serious or sanitized. It means knowing where the line is. Respecting other people when they tell you where their boundary is, and not making them else miserable for the sake of a joke.

  • Respect boundaries. If someone asks you to stop, stop. We do not expect everyone to be best friends, but we do expect people to treat each other with basic respect.
  • Don’t punch down. Slurs, identity-based insults, harassment, and targeted sexual comments are not welcome here. Adult humor is fine. Making another person the joke is not.
  • Keep conflict private. Normal disagreements should be handled quietly and respectfully. If something is discriminatory, sexual, threatening, or feels unsafe bring it to a Coordinator.
  • Know where things belong. Explicit sexual content stays private, political discussion belongs in the opt-in #current-events channel, and gameplay advice should be offered rather than dumped on someone who did not ask for it.

We do not police personalities. We do enforce boundaries. Mistakes happen, but repeated behavior after someone has been asked to stop is a different issue.

Social Pillars

Cozy Fire is built around four simple ideas that should shape how the guild feels day to day. These are not just recruitment slogans. They are the standard we use when deciding what kind of community we want to be.

  • Community First: The experience of enjoying the game together matters more than rushing to optimize everything. Progress is great, but the people we are progressing with matter more.
  • Shared Discovery: Explore, experiment, and ask each other before immediately reaching for a guide. Classic becomes a much more social game when other players are part of how you explore the world.
  • Low Pressure: We clear content casually and support each other while doing it. Mistakes are expected. Nobody gets screamed at, mocked, or made to feel stupid for learning.
  • Inclusive Culture: Cozy Fire is LGBT-friendly, text-first, and intentionally welcoming to people who struggle socially or deal with anxiety. You do not have to be outgoing, or comfortable in voice chat to belong here.

The goal is not to force everyone to play the same way. It is to create a place where people feel comfortable showing up and joining in.

Membership & Communication

Cozy Fire is meant to be active without turning into a job. There is no attendance requirement for normal membership, and real life always comes first. If someone disappears for more than a month without saying anything, they may be removed from the roster to keep things clean. There is no penalty for coming back later, just reach out and we can get you invited again.

New members join as Travelers for their first two weeks. During that time, a Coordinator will check in a few times, help answer questions, and make an effort to pull them into guild activities. The goal is to make sure nobody joins and then spends two weeks standing around wondering how to become part of the group. After two weeks, Travelers become full members as long as they have made some effort to engage with the community.

Cozy Fire is a text-first guild. Guild chat and Discord text are the primary community spaces, while voice is there for people who enjoy it. Nobody should feel like they need to sit in Discord all night to be part of the real social circle.

Members are encouraged to organize their own dungeon runs, PvP nights, and other activities whenever they want. Larger guild-sanctioned events should be coordinated with leadership first.

Most importantly, participation should feel natural. Join things when you can, invite people along when you are doing something, and help create the kind of active community you joined for.

Cozy Roleplay

Roleplay in Cozy Fire is completely optional. It is there to add flavor to the game, not create another set of obligations. Nobody is expected to stay in character, write long backstories, or participate in RP events if they are not interested.

In character, Cozy Fire is a loose band of ordinary people trying to make their way in Azeroth after the war. We are not a military order or noble house. We're civilians, merchants, craftspeople, and oddballs who stick together because life is easier with good company.

The goal is to let RP grow out of what we are already doing. A dungeon run can become an adventure, something strange in the world can turn into a rumor, and members can build a reputation over time based on the things they actually do.

PvE & Raiding

Cozy Fire will raid casually, but casually does not mean carelessly. We want to clear content, and respect the time everyone is putting in. Effort is required. Excellence is not. Showing up on time, bringing basic consumables, and making a reasonable effort are all expected.

Raids will run no more than two nights a week, with Friday and Saturday evenings as the current plan. Signing up is a commitment. Real life happens, but it only takes a moment to let someone know you cannot make it.

Voice will be used during raids, but speaking is never required. Raiders are expected to be able to listen for calls unless they need an accommodation, in which case they only need to talk with leadership beforehand.

If we have more signups than raid spots, raid composition comes first and attendance is used after that. Anyone who signs up, is ready to raid, and is available still receives attendance credit. Mains will generally receive raid spots before alts.

Loot will use a simple 2 Soft Reserve system, followed by Main Spec over Off Spec. Certain chase items from older content may eventually have an attendance requirement so the people who consistently help keep that content alive have a fair shot at the rewards. Those requirements will be clearly defined before they are ever used.

Performance concerns should be rare and will always be handled privately. We will help people improve, but someone who repeatedly shows up unprepared or simply is not participating may be asked to sit until the issue is addressed.

A PLACE AROUND THE FIRE

Tell us about yourself.

Cozy Fire is intentionally inclusive, text-first, and low-pressure. We expect people to treat each other with kindness and respect, and we’re probably not a good fit for people who enjoy edgy humor at other people’s expense.
